Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat

AB

Two of Scotland’s most characterful musicians, jazz pianist Bill Wells & ex-Arab Strap vocalist / lyricist Aidan Moffat’s first release as a duo, ‘Everything’s Getting Older’ won the 2012 Scottish Album of the Year award. Their 2015 follow-up ‘The Most Important Place in the World’ promises to be one of 2015’s most significant releases. It’s a career-high shared, as Wells lays down warm, jazzy arrangements and Moffat muses with trademark candour” (The List)

Aidan O’Rourke

Both a “dazzling fiddler” (Scotland on Sunday), and an “unfailingly strong and imaginative” composer (The List), Aidan O’Rourke stands at the centre of the modern Scottish folk music revival. Loved for his warm lyrical fiddle style and admired for his adventurous compositions, O’Rourke has emerged as one of Scotland’s leading artists, defining a modern attitude to traditional music. In February 2014 he was named ‘Musician of the Year’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Aidan will be playing this show with Graeme Stephen.

Sheena Wellington

Sheena

Scotland’s leading traditional singer, Sheena Wellington was born in Dundee into a family of singers and factory weavers and is perhaps best known outside traditional music circles for her singing of “A Man’s A Man For ‘a That” at the Opening Ceremony of the first Scottish Parliament. Sheena’s repertoire covers everything from Burns to ballads to the best of contemporary song writing, drawing from the rich Scottish tradition passed from musician to musician through the ages.

James Yorkston

One of the most respected and influential singer/songwriters on the Scottish indie-folk scene” (The Scotsman), James released his 9th album, ‘The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society’, in 2014. “Another sublime piece of work” – The Scotsman 5/5, “Poetic genius at work…the flawless record that Yorkston has long promised” – Q, “Customarily brilliant piece of work” – The List 5/5
